Fedora 16 to Fedora 17 Upgrade Part 2

Was it worth the upgrade from Fedora 16 to Fedora 17?

Well that depends on how you use Fedora and what you want to achieve?

I personally updated because the reviews of KDE 4.8 have been so positive that I wanted to update, plus according to the feature list there were supposed to be improvements to power management but I have not noticed any difference on my laptop.
KDE 4.8 seems to smooth out some performance issues and is visually stunning. Ontop of that KDE still has a UI that people understand and can get work done with, but it is a resource hog.
Other desktops I use are XFCE and LDE on systems that do not have the hardware to push KDE and both are outstanding options.
What about Gnome? Yes it gets updated to the latest version, but it is totally useless. This is a project that lost it’s way and pride will probably keep them from fixing their mess.
To find out what else gets updated have look at the feature list for both Fedora 16 and Fedora 17.

For myself the update from Fedora 16 to Fedora 17 was not without issues, but overall not a bad experience and worth getting KDE 4.8.
